Vincent Browne News Show Kicks off on TV3
14 Jan 2008 :
TV3’s new news programme, ‘Nightly News with Vincent Browne’, kicks off tonight, 14th January, at 11.00 pm.

The 40 minute programme, fronted by journalist Vincent Browne, replaces TV3’s ‘News Tonight’ and will air from Monday to Thursday.

‘Nightly News with Vincent Browne’ offers viewers a news bulletin, in-depth reports, interviews with the key newsmakers and expert analysis, sport, weather and a preview of the following morning’s newspapers.

Browne has forty years journalism experience. The founder of ‘Magill’ magazine, he worked as editor of The Sunday Tribune for eleven years and is a columnist with The Irish Times and The Sunday Business Post. He broadcast on RTE radio from 1996 to last June and is editor and publisher of ‘Village’ magazine and is currently writing a biography of Charles Haughey.

Browne will be joined at the news desk by two Senior Correspondents: Karen Coleman, who presents award winning weekly show ‘The Wide Angle’ on Newstalk Radio; and Brian O’Donovan, who has worked on TV3 News for the last two years.

TV3 News Anchors Alan Cantwell and Colette Fitzpatrick will present the news bulletin, while TV3’s Political Editor Ursula Halligan, presenter of ‘The Political Party’, will cover the major political stories.

TV3 News on ‘Ireland AM’ and ‘TV3 News at 5.30’ are also set to receive a new look, with a new contemporary design running through all TV3 news bulletins.

"The arrival of ‘Nightly News with Vincent Browne’ combined with the launch of a fresh new contemporary design for TV3 News at 5.30 and TV3 News on Ireland AM marks a significant investment by TV3 in journalistic talent, Irish programming and design, “ said TV3 Director of News, Andrew Hanlon.
