The Louth, Newry and Mourne Film Commission have announced ‘Souled Out’, an Ireland/UK co-production feature film from writer/director Shimmy Marcus (Headrush), is to film in the Dundalk and Ardee areas for four weeks during the Summer 2006.
Mairtín de Barra of the Film Commission said;
‘We are delighted that all our hard work has paid off. In the end once we brought them here to show them possible locations Louth sold itself. They were overwhelmed by the variety and quality of locations within a small radius, and how film-friendly the region is.’
‘Souled Out’ will film in Louth for a month and then move to Stoke, England for a week. The Film is being produced by Irish company Zanzibar Films and UK company Ipso Facto Films. The film is funded by the Irish Film Board and availing of the Regional Support Fund, a loan designed to promote regional film making.
The Film Commission was launched in March 2005, aiming to encourage indigenous production and market the region’s qualities to International Filmmakers. It is funded by the Interreg 111a Scheme, Louth County Council and Newry and Mourne District Council.
