Graham Cantwell's 'Anton' gets UK DVD release as 'Trapped'
24 Nov 2011 :
The IFTA nominated feature film ‘Anton’ has been released for rental under its international title ‘Trapped’ in the UK and Ireland. Released through High Fliers Films, the film will be available to buy in January 2012.

The 2008 thriller, directed by Graham Cantwell (The Callback Queen), stars Gerard McSorley (Veronica Guerin), Anthony Fox (The General) and Laura Way (The Silence) and is produced by Patrick Clarke (Beyond the Pale) and Anthony Fox.

The film was nominated for three IFTA awards in 2009; Best Supporting Actor for Gerard McSorley, Best Original Score for Anna Rice (Tongan Ark) and Best Cinematography for Fergal O’Hanlon (Cromwell in Ireland).

Inspired by true events, the films tells the story of Anton O’Neill (Fox) who, after time spent at sea, returns to find that 1970's Ireland is a radically different place to the one he left behind. Blinded by hatred and misguided patriotism he is led into a world of violence and is forced to choose between his family and his country.

Writer and lead actor Anthony Fox said; “It's incredible to get a wide release in England. It has been an exhilarating, mental journey. We just went out there to make the best film possible and meet our heroes en route. They even helped us. The whole experience was like being inside Hunter S Thompson's brain on a good trip.”

The DVD features bonus material including a commentary from director Graham Cantwell, who said “It was great to revisit the film for this release. It has been performing really well internationally, so to finally have it available in the UK is a great boost.”

May Monteiro, MD of High Fliers said “High Fliers are delighted to be representing Trapped. The film will be released in January 2012 on retail and we are pleased with the support we are receiving for the film.”

The film was produced by Fox Glove Films and i4i Productions, posted at EGG post production, while sound was done at Ardmore Sound and Lime Street Sound.
