IFTN brings you a round-up of Creative Europe’s key updates including a Best Feature nomination for Kneecap at the EU Film Awards 2024, the MEDIA Supported Training: Audiovisual Women, and the DocCelerator Galway taking place this October.

Kneecap Nominated for Best Feature at EU Film Awards 2024

The European Film Academy has announced the first round of European films which have been selected for the first round of the Feature Film Selection for the European Film Awards 2024. Irish film Kneecap has been selected to compete for best Feature Film. Written and directed by Rich Peppiat and produced by Trevor Birney, Jack Tarling, and Patrick O’Neill, Kneecap was winner of Best Irish Film at the Galway Film Fleadh this year. It also won the Audience Award and the Irish Language Feature Film Award. The European Film Awards will be held on 7th December in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Reminder: DocCelerator Galway 14th & 15th October 2024

In association with Paradiddle Pictures and Coimisiún na Meán, MEDIA Office Galway will host a DocCelerator workshop in Galway on the 14th and 15th October, 2024. If you are a documentary maker wanting a more focused story and a clearer dramaturgical structure for your project this format is for you. The workshop is led by Geoffrey Smith and Ove Rishøj Jensen. It is recommended that you take part in DocCelerator as a team of producer and director or other key creative team member. Apply by 6th September 2024.

MEDIA Supported Training: Audiovisual Women

AUDIOVISUAL WOMEN is a leadership program for female professionals in mid- to senior-level management positions. Tailored for female managers working across the value chain in the European audiovisual industry this programme offers a highly interdisciplinary and unique approach to training and professional development. Online as well as on-site at various locations in Europe from November 2024 - April 2025. Application Deadline: 16th September 2024.
