14 Mar 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Paramount TV has hired UTA’s David Flynn as Exec VP of International Strategy, as it strengthens its executive ranks.

Flynn who is a highly respected veteran agent will help find new talent and build up the studio's IP library by securing formats, books and films, with an emphasis on independent and foreign filmmakers.

Flynn has been an agent in the literary department at UTA since 2006 and has built relationships and steady business with a stable of international clients including Laszlo Nemes, Ziad Douieri, Rupert Wyatt, Andrey Zvyagintsev and Roar Ultaug, Sean Durkin, Bo Odar, Antonio Campos among many others. He recently put together the German thriller series Dark for Netflix.

David Flynn was born and raised in Dublin Ireland, where he initially worked on Paramount's Braveheart, which was shot exclusively in Ireland.  He went on to set up his own management company, producing and managing the feature film Seraphim Falls in 2005, starring Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan and Anjelica Houston which went on to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006 and secured international sales.

That same year, Flynn took up his position in the United Talent Agency in Los Angeles.

In his new role as Executive Vice President, Flynn will report to Paramount TV president Amy Powell who is very enthusiastic about his appointment and said  “David has a keen eye for identifying ambitious content from premier content creators worldwide”, Powell said. “He will be a tremendous asset to our team as we work to disrupt the global content creation model, bringing the unique voices and storytelling of local creators to television audiences worldwide.”

Flynn says he’s incredibly excited to join Amy and her amazing team and said “Paramount’s iconic library, matched with the innovative leadership in place at the studio today, provides unlimited opportunities to continue to transform the model around pairing original IP with brilliant content creators.  I look forward to helping expand this model internationally and bringing the most visionary filmmakers, producers and creators into Paramount TV to make content for the global marketplace. I am grateful for my last decade at UTA and look forward to working with everyone in my new role.”

Flynn maintains good relations with his former colleagues at UTA with its Co-President David Kramer saying “Paramount TV is getting a tremendous executive in David Flynn. He’s been a great colleague at UTA for more than a decade and integral in building our international business. We truly wish him the best and look forward to many years of continued work together.”

Paramount TV has projects on the air including Netflix breakout 13 Reasons Why and TNT's latest adaptation, The Alienist. The studio is also working with George Clooney on his first TV project in two decades, a take on Joseph Heller's classic novel Catch-22. Paramount TV also has a first-look deal with Anonymous Content, and, in December, the pair signed a first-look deal with Conde Nast Entertainment, as well.
