Over One Million Viewers Tune into Finale of Ireland's Historic Victory over the All Blacks

The viewing figures from RTÉ’s coverage of Ireland’s historical victory over the All Blacks on Saturday estimate that more than one million viewers tuned in to see the Ireland close out the game at the Aviva Stadium.

An average audience of 883,700 tuned-in to RTÉ2 for Ireland’s thrilling Guinness Series win over New Zealand on Saturday. 57% of those watching TV at the time were watching RTÉ Sport’s live coverage on RTÉ2. While a figure of 1,036,500 was recorded at 20:56pm as viewers tuned in to see Joe Schmidt’s men seal a first ever victory over the All Blacks on home soil.

Meanwhile on RTÉ Player there were over 135,000 streams to the match at the weekend, 93,800 on Saturday and another 43,500 on Sunday as people relived the glory.  

Tonight on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player (8pm) ‘Against The Head’ will feature extended highlights of the game while Daire O’Brien and guests Bernard Jackman, Donal Lenihan and Eddie O’Sullivan will look back on a historic night for Irish rugby.
