International Irish Film Festivals on in March

Irish Film Festival Boston
Four North American Irish film festivals take place in March, three over this weekend.

FKey Irish titles are showing at all of the festivals this weekend, including ‘The Farthest’, ‘The Breadwinner’, ‘Zoo’ and ‘In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America’.  Also screening are ‘Maze’, ‘Bad Day for the Cut’ and ‘A Date for Mad Mary’.  Titles screening across all of the festivals are great – with strong programming for features, docs and shorts. 

The Chicago Irish Film Festival starts tonight (Thursday 1st March) with a screening of In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America’; the festival runs until Sunday (The Farthest closes the festival). 

The Capital Irish Film Festival, in Washington, also starts today, with the screening of Colin McIvor’s Zoo. Other highlights include ‘Pilgrimage’, ‘Bad Day for the Cut’ and ‘The Breadwinner’.

Other US based festivals this month includes the Toronto Irish Film Festival, which starts tomorrow (2nd) with a screening of ‘A Date for Mad Mary’. ‘John Hume’ also screens in Toronto.

The Irish Film Festival Boston kicks off on 22nd March (until 25th); we’ll have full piece on the Boston programme next week.

In London, the London Irish Film Festival runs Friday 16th – Sunday 18th March.  The programme includes the UK premiere of ‘Damo & Ivor’ – the full programme will be reviewed on IFTN next week.
