Four Irish Companies receive over €771K in the latest round of Creative Europe MEDIA Development Funding
10 Jul 2017 :
The MEDIA Offices of Creative Europe Desk Ireland have announced that four Irish companies have been successful in the latest deadline for the Slate Development Funding scheme with awards totalling €771,525.

The scheme provides funding for companies who wish to develop a Slate or package of 3-5 Film or Television projects.

Element Pictures, Deadpan Pictures, Moetion Films and Subotica all received funding.

Three Drama slates and one Animation slate were selected. Element Pictures, Deadpan Pictures and Subotica Films all received funding for drama projects with a mix of theatrical and TV Drama projects. Moetion Films from Galway was awarded for an animation slate.

The €771,525 awarded in this round brings the total awarded to Irish Companies since the start of the current Creative Europe MEDIA Programme in 2014 to over €6.4 million. Development funding is a key part of Irish success stories in Creative Europe awarded under the development schemes accounting for 70% of all funding awarded to date.

‘Slate development funding has become a highly competitive scheme and we are delighted to see that Irish companies are, yet again, competing successfully on an international level for this funding,’ said Orla Clancy of the Dublin MEDIA Office. ‘We are very pleased that two companies Deadpan Pictures and Moetion Films have been supported for the first time, alongside previous awardees Element Pictures and Subotica.  This is a strong indication of Creative Europe’s commitment to scaling and growing SME’s in Europe providing funding which is vital for the growth of the audiovisual sector by supporting companies at the riskiest stage in the production process.’

Eibhlín Ní Mhunghaile of the MEDIA Office Galway noted ‘Ahead of Galway Film Fleadh next week where 9 Creative Europe MEDIA supported Films (4 of which are Irish) will screen, this significant development investment from Creative Europe will ensure that the Irish Film and Television industry continues to grow and flourish. We are particularly delighted that a small Galway based Animation studio with a significant international reach has been supported.’
