Trinity Creative Partnership & Reel 2 Reel Films have debuted an official trailer for an Irish mystery thriller film titled The Green Sea, which marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Randal Plunkett(Out There).
The film stars scream queen Katherine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps, American Mary, Hannibal) and rising Irish actress Hazel Doupe(Smother, Float Like A Butterfly). Among the other cast, is a strong ensemble of Irish talent, including Jenny Dixon(Full Circle), Dermot Ward(Game Of Thrones), Michael Parle(Tin Can Man), & Zeb Moore(Hexing).
The premise, revolves around Simone (Katharine Isabelle), an American writer living a solitary life in the Irish countryside, haunted by visions of her past. These visions begin to intertwine with the fantasy world of her novel, blurring the distinguishable lines between reality and the fantasy. Her life changes, when the protagonist of her book, known only as "Kid” (Hazel Doupe), appears to her as a victim of a drunk driving incident, that forces the pair together.
This sets up the beginning of an unlikely relationship, that will ultimately set off a chain of events which will force Simone to face her sinister past and a lurking dark nefarious stranger who is in search for Kid, known only as The Collector (Michael Parle).
The film was filmed predominantly on location at the Dunsany Nature Reserve in Meath, which was most recently featured on the program Nationwide, as well as various locations in Mullingar and Brittas Bay. It was produced by Stephen Lourdes (North Circular Road) and Edwina Forkin (Sanctuary) as a co-production between Dunsany Productions and Zanzibar Films. Among the crew was Director of Photography Philipp Morozov (Choo-Choo), Editing by Chris Gill (28 Days Later) and Randal Plunkett (Out There), Production Design by Ger Wallace(The Clockmaker’s Dream), and Music by Darius McGann (Out There).
The Green Sea is written and directed by Randal Plunkett, making this his first feature after a number of short films previously.
OneTwoThree Media who are handling worldwide sales for the film have secured a full Irish/UK and North American deal with Trinity Creative via Reel 2 Reel.
Reel 2 Reel intend to release Plunkett's The Green Sea direct-to-VOD starting on July 5th, with a North American release to follow on the July 13th.
