Location

Cloughjordan House is based on the edge of the small, Irish town of Cloughjordan Village in County Tipperary. Set back from the tree-lined country road, the house sits within 8 acres of manicured lawns, ancient trees and magical walled gardens.

About Cloughjordan House

Cloughjordan House's 800 year old country house and pristine Cookery School make for a fabulous filming location. They have the ability to sleep up to 70 + guests and so can accommodate all crew stay on-site enabling them to be fully immersed in their work and hit the ground running at any time of the day. Cloughjordan House is a private venue which means exclusivity to the property, reducing greatly the amount of potential interruptions.

The House itself is a truly relaxing and homely venue. Built by the Normans, the barley twist staircase is a rare historical feature from this era. Visitors get a sense of real belonging with unrestricted use of the main house, two luxurious sitting rooms and four large, stylish ensuite bedrooms.

You can’t walk around the grounds of Cloughjordan House without feeling steeped in Irish history. It’s covered in a colourful Virginia creeper residual from the historic Hodgins’ Arboretum and nursery gardens that the grounds were once famous for. The property has been in the hands of The Baker family since 1914 when they purchased it from the Hodgins family. In 1922 free state soldiers occupied the house and evidence of their target practise can see be seen on an ancient tree outside.

The attention to detail leaves each finished room with a sense of its own personality and flair, meaning every lodger has a unique experience of the venue. The bathrooms are stocked with premium toiletries and the property is littered with Nespresso machines so that guests can take a break during their stay to sit back and smell the coffee.

The 17th century ballroom (measuring 31 x 25ft approx) at Cloughjordan House is the main space for most of the events hosted here. The room centres around a large, open fireplace and comes complete with a chandelier and festoons. It is the perfect space for a ceremony, coming to life in the evening for dancing and theatrics. It can be transformed for a range of functions including conferences, presentations and meetings.

The marquee: Double doors from the ballroom open out onto this contemporary, beautifully lined marquee. The room overlooks the lawns and wooded area, creating a charming atmosphere to host your guests for dinner. The handmade wooden bar in the marquee carries through the authentic theme to this space.

The Argentinian ‘Asado’ comes to life in the evening time, or on the day after a wedding. It is a laid-back covered BBQ area where you can experience a festive, party atmosphere from start to finish. The fire-pits encourage guests to come together as one to share food, laughter, drink and music and is the perfect way to integrate new families, friends or colleagues.

Cloughjordan House has a variety of colourful accommodation options for guests. It’s hard to believe when you’re sitting in the boutique style ‘cowsheds’ that it was an actual cow shed only a couple of years ago. The same goes for the Dairy and the Coach House. Proprietor, Peter Baker, and his team have constructed each room in The Cow Shed and Milking Parlour with a highly skilled craftsmanship that is apparent in every tiny feature. The rooms are completed by the interior design eye of Sarah Baker, combining an earthy, rustic feel with the ultimate in modern comfort. The rooms are a partnership of Irish farm and South African luxury, with wood direct from the Cloughjordan House forest and sinks and rugs brought over from the African continent.

The newest addition to the Cloughjordan House experience is glamping. 5 boutique camping bell tents and 6 wooden pods have recently been installed, which are spacious with ultimate comfort and a festive feel. In order to keep their guest’s stay feeling as premium as possible, they have built a Pamper Room so that ladies can get ready in comfort for the day ahead. This Pamper Room is bright and spacious and comes complete with mirrors and plugs for appliances. This space would be perfect for your hair & make-up team to work from.
