The Forge, Ballinlug, Killanne, nr Enniscorthy, Co Wexford
Located in a serene, rural setting at the foot of the Blackstairs Mountain, this is an absolutely stunning film location.

'The Forge' estate consists of a traditional white farmhouse, a traditional old stone cottage (converted into a Forge), 2 barns and 19 acres of beautiful farmland. The farmland is made up of 3 fields with a small woodland and stream at the end of the bottom field. The estate has uninterrupted, breathtaking views of the Blackstairs Mountains. Due to the location it would be possible to film from the air.

History:
The estate has been owned by the Cullen family since it was bought in 1914.

The Forge (an 18th century single storey, traditional stone wall cottage):
The cottage was a family home until the farmhouse was built and the cottage was then converted into a Forge.  The authentic Blacksmith’s Forge has been untouched since the 1950’s - upon entering the Forge, you take a step back in time!

  • Huge original leather bellows (approx. 1 metre x 1 metre) and furnace are still in place
  • The Forge contains a wide selection of original blacksmith tools and implements including an Anvil
  • Stone floor and thick stone walls

The farmhouse (a 2 storey, white building) interior has:

  • Fully fitted, modern kitchen.
  • Fully fitted, modern bathroom (currently being installed)
  • Sitting Room
  • Dining Room
  • 2 Bedrooms.

The farmhouse has a large concrete forecourt with adjacent land, plenty of room for parking trailers etc.
2 huge Barns in excellent condition:
1 Barn has exterior stone steps leading to the first floor (huge storage area with wooden floor).  The Barns have a stable area, hay storage area and troughs for animal feeding.
Location:

  • Enniscorthy town – 20 minutes. The town is dominated by the Norman castle, now a museum, and the river Slaney with restaurants, cinema, leisure centre and shopping.
  • Bunclody, Vinegar Hill, Enniscorthy and Blackwater Golf Clubs are within easy reach.
  • Curracloe Beach (film set for ‘Saving Private Ryan’) – 40 minutes
  • Rosslare Harbour – 50 minutes
  • Dublin – 1.5 hours
  • Ardmore Film Studios, Wicklow – 1.5 hours
