The picturesque valley of Glenasmole is located in a hollow in the Dublin Mountains overlooking South Dublin County. The steep sides of the valley are covered in a mixture of a patchwork of pastures, small fields and hedgerows, open heath and wet grassland, and commercial forestry and old broadleaved woodland. The two lakes on the valley floor represent the Bohernabreena Reservoir and Waterworks. Panoramic views down into the valley and up into the surrounding hills can be seen from a number of vantage points along the Piperstown to Glassamucky Road on the eastern side of the valley. This road ultimately leads up onto the higher bogland area of the Featherbeds in the Dublin Mountains. |
