The Courier was one of the first Irish films to eschew a rural backdrop, indeed this film also appropriated a genre not common to Irish productions - the thriller.

Mark is a young dispatch courier who discovers that the merchandise he has been delivering around Dublin is actually heroin. When his girlfriends, drug addict brother is killed he plots to seek revenge of his evil boss, Val.
