The RTÉ Entertainment department are currently on the market for commissioning ideas for both RTÉ One and RTÉ2.
Entertainment on RTÉ One provides shared experiences for the nation on a regular basis from their mainstream in house productions such as ‘The Late Late Show’, ‘The Ray D'Arcy Show’ to contemporary large scale commissions like ‘The Voice’ and ‘Ireland's Fittest Family’. The challenge here is to continue to serve and provide engaging, relevant and entertaining content for their core audience who watch their output in huge numbers, while looking to attract new, younger viewers, particularly in the 25 - 44 year old age groups.
While talent shows, chat shows and one off events are the cornerstones of RTÉ One Entertainment, they are actively looking for fresh programming and to create and develop indigenous formats and ideas.
According to RTÉ, Entertainment on RTÉ2 needs to be about contemporary, brave, relevant and exciting propositions aimed squarely at the very discerning 15 to 34 year old market.
In particular, they will consider entertaining proposals that will fit well into the successful Reality Bites strand of popular docs with an edge. Innovation in a challenging budgetary environment will be the key to success. (50 mins, approx budget 55k).
Ideas for both channels which have the ability to attract BAI Sound and Vision funding will be particularly attractive.
The next deadline for submissions for BAI proposals is Thursday 28/07/2016 (12 noon).
RTÉ One and RTÉ2 will still consider single factual and pop docs for contestable slots on a rolling basis.
