Digital Communications Executive, Virgin Media Television

Virgin Media Television is looking for a Digital Communications Executive to join its communications team.  

This role will drive public relations activities with a strong emphasis on all things digital. By creating bespoke digital campaigns you will develop promotion through new digital platforms and identify new opportunities in digital outreach. In parallel this role requires strong relationship management focusing on key media stakeholders. 

Acting as a point of contact for media inquiries and press releases, you will ensure excellent writing and communication are applied at all times in line with VMTV’s overall objectivities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Ireland’s leading commercial broadcaster and input to the overall digital strategy of VMTV.

Specific Duties & Tasks:

• Develop and coordinate public relations activities with a strong focus on digital PR
• Drive the creation and implementation of a digital PR strategy in VMTV
• Create bespoke digital campaigns and driving promotion through new digital platforms
• Proactively identify and develop new opportunities in digital outreach
• Develop and optimise digital and social media outputs (text, images, video, audio) to increase VMTV’s presence online
• Build strong relationships with external media stakeholders (influencers, blogger websites etc) ensuring full visibility of relevant upcoming activities, press releases, events and announcements
• Responsible for effectively managing media inquiries and interview request
• Draft and issue press materials and engaging copy for social and digital media
• Continuously maintain a strong online voice through social media and digital PR
• Review media coverage of the company  and industry related issues on a daily basis escalating as necessary to relevant stakeholders
• Assist in the coordination of the VMTV group events and activities
• Proactively sport trends on social media and develop strategies to best amplify VMTV messaging and new technologies
• Pitching to journalists as necessary
• Ensure the VMTV Electronic Programme Guide and Listing are actioned and accurate

Skills & Expertise:

• Degree qualified in Marketing, Communication Studies, Journalism or similar
• 2-3 years’ PR agency experience
• Excellent knowledge and hands on experience of the online media landscape and social media platforms
• Passionate and knowledgeable in the digital PR area
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Excellent relationships with key online and traditional media sources
• Experience in using social media as a PR campaign tool
• A flare for and experience in creating content across social media and other online platforms
• A strong understanding of the digital landscape and current trends
