This is a key on-air position with Virgin Media Sport. It will require the producing and presenting of sports news in a roster pattern, with hours ranging from 05:00 to 23:00 across a seven-day rotation. The role also has a reporting element with a requirement to attend sports markings and produce packages to be broadcast on air.
Main tasks of the role:
- Present and produce sports stories for Virgin Media News and Sport bulletins
- Making editorial decisions as to the prominence of stories within individual bulletins
- Attend sports markings and produce packages to be broadcast on air
- Work across all Virgin Media News bulletins
- Be an authority for sports news on Virgin Media News and Sport
- Support the news gathering operation by sourcing exclusive stories
- Bring forward ideas for future coverage
- Be a brand ambassador for Virgin Media Sport
About the person:
The person doing this role must have:
- Credible and established on-air experience in live broadcasting
- First class reporting skills
- A good news sense and eye for a story
- The ability to self-edit using Avid software
- A comprehensive contacts book and network in the area of sport
- Be fully engaged with the sports news agenda of the day
- A strong track record of achievement
- Proven experience in dealing with breaking stories
- Extensive experience in broadcast reporting and production
- An authoritative and engaging on-air presence
- A thorough knowledge of all legal issues around broadcasting
- Enthusiasm and energy
- Understanding of – and engagement with – digital news platforms
- A robust work ethic that understands the need for flexibility
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience of studio presentation
