Job Title: Video Editor- Sports

Main Purpose of Job The Video Editor will be responsible for editing pictures and sound to support relevant, quality television sports content across the Virgin Media Group, including Virgin Media Online and Social Media channels.

Working Relationships: Other Virgin Media employees across departments, on air talent, technical staff and external stakeholders, including rights agencies and sporting federations.

Responsible To: Head of Sport.

Responsible For: The production, management and delivery of cutting edge sports video content across multiple platforms of the Virgin Media Group.

Liaison With: Sports organisations, relevant stakeholders, on air talent, production staff, broadcast agencies and/or other broadcasters.

Main Tasks of Job

• To drive content visually, in terms of style and structure, with high professional standards, consistent with the style and editorial content of Virgin Media and its audience.
• Preparing content for broadcast, producing quick turn-around highlights of sports events and working closely with production teams on various programme briefs.
• To work collaboratively across all sports events and output liaising with technical operatives in the areas such as playback and graphics.
• Manage and organise archive of video/media assets.
• Stay up-to-date with new technological advances in the space.
• To work closely, when required, with other areas of the business, including Broadcast and Operations, Content, including Programming, Publicity and Digital teams.
• To engage and embrace Virgin Media Social Media and Digital channels to promote Virgin Media sports programming.

Employee Specification

Essential

• Excellent video editing and strong post-production ability with a minimum of 3 years’ experience using Avid Media Composer.
• Non-linear video editing and rendering/encoding for a wide spectrum of specifications and file formats.
• Strong editorial judgement and a passion for sport, in particular Rugby and Soccer.
• Good organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and changing priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Great project management and prioritization skills with high work standards.
• A thoroughness in attention to detail and an ability to internalise feedback and incorporate into future projects.
• Ability to use and engage in social digital media to promote content.
• An expectation of working outside normal office hours.

Desirable

• Up to five years’ experience in digital media/broadcast production.
• Up-to-date in both existing and emerging trends in video and graphic design.
• Awareness of the latest technologies to deliver the highest quality cost-efficient programming.
• Experience of creating graphics and animations using Adobe Creative Suite.
• Highly self-motivated with experience working in a fast paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
