Boulder Media requires an Art Director

Responsibilities:

• Sitting with the Director and/or Concept Artists at the script stage and deciding what the key locations should look like and what shots need to be done for Storyboarding and Key BGs.
• Ensuring that the look of the show is consistent with the established style.
• Giving notes on BG Keys.
• Creating Style keys for compositing. Establishing the look for key sequence within an episode, lighting, character shading, scene grading etc.
• Designing bespoke pieces of artwork that are outside the usual BGs, i.e. magazine covers, fake adverts, etc.
• Approve props and liaise with the Concept Artists to decide how to handle certain elements.
• Reviewing Assemblies.
• Providing B&W sketches of original ideas for location design in rough form for approval by the Director's.
• Providing brief for location design in rough form for approval.  Completing black and white location design, rough colour work for the above to show mood, atmosphere, general colour palette.   Providing final colour work. 
• The Art Director is responsible for ensuring the brief is clear and the deadlines are understood by their team.
• Leading the art department team and communicating effectively with the Director and Production Manager as well as other relevant department heads. 

Person Specification:

• The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in an Animation production environment.
• Ideally they will have 2+ years of experience as an Art Director for a TV Series or Feature Film.
• Must be able to communicate in an articulate and positive manner.
• Excellent team skills.
• Must be able to work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to make decisions under pressure.
• In depth knowledge of Photoshop is essential.
• Strong understanding of the principles of both character and background design.
• Have extensive experience working with a wide variety of styles.
• The ability to show initiative, working both by themselves and in a team.

This role is only open to applicants willing to relocate to Ireland if required and all applicants must be eligible to work within EEA.
