Boulder Media requires a Lead FX Artist - 3D

Role: Lead FX Artist - 3D
Reporting to: CG Supervisor 

Summary of the Role
Boulder Media are recruiting for the position of Lead FX Artist. This role requires someone with a strong knowledge of 3D software and its application of 3D effects such as Particles, Fracturing, Fluids, and Dynamic Collisions.

They will be creatively and technically skilled with a strong working knowledge of effects design for animation as well as a solid foundation in Maya.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish key FX set-ups, liaising with the Art Director and the CG Supervisor to set the required creative style of the production.
• Create re-usable FX Assets that meet the Art Director’s creative and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with the CG Supervisor and pipeline team to ensure the project’s FX pipeline is effective and economical.
• Provide regular progress updates to the Production Manager and CG Supervisor.
• Manage the technical and visual quality control of the department.
• Provide creative and technical leadership and support for the FX team.

Person Specification:

• At least 5 years’ experience working as a VFX artist in either TV or feature film work.
• Must have an excellent working knowledge of FX in Maya and/or Houdini and ideally Maya Dynamics and particle systems.
• Knowledge of other programs such as Realflow, Nuke X particles, Fume and After Effects.
• Must have a strong creative style and a thorough understanding of light, colour, shading, and FX design.
• Knowledge of Python (and/or Mel) is considered a bonus.
• Experience with Shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered a bonus.
• Experience in CG effects pipeline development.
