VT Editor

There is an immediate opening for a VT Editor for Weekend AM. The following is a summary of the primary requirements of the job and does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities for this position. This is a permanent position.

Duration: Full-time, Permanent (37.5 hrs)

Liaison with: Programming, Transmission

Indicative Work Schedule: Wednesday to Friday 9:00 – 17:30, Saturday, Sunday: 6:00- 14:30

THE POSITION

Weekend AM was launched in August 2015, and have grown the Ireland AM brand across weekends providing 3 hours of live television every Saturday and Sunday. VT Editors are expected to deliver high-quality items for the show’s output, working closely with producers and presenters. They must be full of ideas, show great initiative, exercise sound editorial judgement and have a clear understanding of what makes great television.

CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE

• The talent to create first-class packages for Weekend AM
• Highly developed Avid editing skills
• A great eye for the right pictures to get the message across
• A great ear for a clever script
• A clear understanding of what VMTV viewers want to see
• Great ideas and enthusiasm
• The ability to work under pressure as part of a busy team
• Planning and organisational skills
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to produce VT’s with direction when necessary
• Audio and video checks of all content from air (inc. sound level and colour grading).
