This Avid Systems Engineer position participates in various important projects and is the point of contact for troubleshooting issues of Virgin Media’s NLE infrastructure and are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep all systems within the Avid eco systems. This position is primarily concerned with the installation, support and maintenance of production systems to support the delivery of Virgin Media Television shows on schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Install and provide on-going support, maintenance of production and post-production systems for on-air daily productions including Avid Interplay, Avid Media Composer, Pro-Tools and storage solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of physical and software assets.
- Prioritise of deliverables to meet business requirements.
- Perform complete software installation and/or upgrades.
- Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN and WAN system performance and resolving communications and networking problems.
- Provide software support for Linux, Windows and desktop/server environments.
- Develop scripts, service checks, and automated processes for server systems and monitor server performance.
- Keep abreast of developments in broadcast technology infrastructure.
- Make recommendations for future hardware or software additions or enhancements in all aspects of the technology infrastructure.
- Report to management on the progress of all projects.
The above list is not exhaustive and the successful candidate will be expected to perform other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years supporting an Avid based post production facility
- Friendly can-do attitude
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to prioritise tasks and be responsive to requests from multiple users whilst ensuring the content is delivered.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows (MCSE and Linux certification preferred).
- Extensive experience with broadcast system
- Expert understanding of interaction between all core systems essential to a NLE production facility.
Desirable:
- 5+ year’s experience as a senior-level engineer/technician of IT systems involving TV broadcast media architecture.
- Avid ASCR certification or equivalent
- Extensive understanding of broadcast-specific IP technologies, including IP based infrastructure, software, networking and IP based media workflows. (CCNA certification preferred)
