Blinder Films requires a PA to Managing Director / Producer
Founded in 2006, Blinder Films have had their films screened at numerous international festivals including Sundance, Toronto, SXSW, Rotterdam, Edinburgh, Seattle, Slamdance, London, and Palm Springs.
Feature film productions include One Hundred Mornings, (Special Jury Award at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival); Sensation, written and directed by Tom Hall starring Domhnall Gleeson; Citadel, a psychological horror from writer/director Ciarán; Sophie Fiennes documentary The Perverts Guide to Ideology, featuring Slavoj Zizek; and Jump, directed by Kieron J. Walsh and winner of the Cinema Without Borders Award at Palm Springs 2013.
Recent productions include Whit Stilman’s Love & Friendship, starring Kate Beckinsale and Chloë Sevigny, and The Queen of Ireland, a documentary following drag queen and accidental activist Panti Bliss against the backdrop of the LGBT rights movement in Ireland, and. Upcoming projects include Sophie Fiennes’ feature documentary about Grace Jones, which is currently in post-production, and Vita & Virginia, to be directed by Chanya Button starring Gemma Arterton and Eva Green.
Blinder also produces television, notably comedy, including the award-winning The Savage Eye, topical satire series Irish Pictorial Weekly, and Striking Out, a new TV drama for RTÉ starring Amy Huberman and Neil Morrissey which premiered in January 2017.
Principals are director Kieron J. Walsh and producer and Managing Director Katie Holly.
The PA to the Managing Director will be primarily responsible for the following duties at Blinder Films
- Organising and maintaining Managing Directors diary and calendar; arranging travel, accommodation & visas where necessary and liaising with all BF staff members to coordinate diaries;
- Responding to emails on behalf of the Managing Director as and when appropriate;
- Managing expense forms (checking receipts, allocating costs to certain projects);
- Screening phone calls, inquires and requests and handling them when appropriate;
- Helping the Managing Director research funding opportunities and undertake project specific or industry research
- Applying for production and development funding from third party funding bodies; and keeping logs of all financing and sales pursuits;
- Liaising with funding bodies, financiers, sales agents, distributors and broadcasters;
- Attending meetings alongside the Managing Director with talent, co-producers, funding bodies, broadcasters, sales agents, distributors and talent/literary agents.
- Various other office & administration duties that may arise;
The Ideal Candidate should:
- Have a strong interest in Film and in particular an interest in producing;
- Have previous experience in production, script reading or in another area of the film industry
- Be extremely organised;
- Be willing to work as part of a small team;
- Be flexible in terms of working additional hours to a reasonable level, and to travel for work abroad if required;
- Be prepared to take responsibility for projects and work independently;
- Be proactive and confident;
- Be prepared to represent the company in an impressive manner at various meetings and events;
- Be able to work well under pressure;
- Be good with numbers and familiar with Excel;
- Any other duties as will be reasonably assigned by the MD during the course of the Contract.
