Production has wrapped on Midwinter Break, the feature debut of Olivier-winning director Polly Findlay. The film stars Ciarán Hinds and Lesley Manville.
Oscar nominees Ciarán Hinds (The Dry) and Lesley Manville (Ordinary Love) will star alongside one another in Midwinter Break, the film debut of award-winning theatre director Polly Findlay. The film recently wrapped, and is now in post-production. The film is being edited by Irish editor Stephen O’Connell (Flora and Son) and Italian editor Lucia Zucchetti (Boy A).
Midwinter Break follows Stella (Manville) and Gerry (Hinds), an Irish couple living in Scotland who take a trip to Amsterdam where their relationship reaches a crossroads. The film is adapted for the screen by Nick Payne (We Live in Time) and author of the novel of the same name, Bernard MacLaverty (Lamb).
In mid-April of this year, crews were seen preparing a Christmas-set in and around Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church in Hyndland, Glasgow, with fake snow being placed on the ground outside and Christmas trees being propped up at the altar inside the church.
Guy Heeley produced the film under his Shoebox Films banner. The project was developed with Film4, who executive produced and co-financed the film. Protagonist Pictures is handling worldwide sales.

John Crowley (Brooklyn) was previously attached to direct the film in 2017.
