TG4 documentary Reds na hÉireann, TV dramedy The Lovers starring Roisin Gallagher, and RTÉ’s live music programme Seisiún have been awarded at the Torc Awards for Excellence, on day two of Celtic Media Festival 2024.
Day two of Celtic Media Festival 2024 continued to showcase the Celtic nations’ talents at the Torc Awards for Excellence, with winners being recognised across a variety of genres as part of The International Summit of Sound and Screen.
Three Irish projects received Torc awards:
- PushPull Media/TG4’s documentary Reds na hÉireann for History (Screen)
- Drama Republic Limited/Sky Atlantic’s The Lovers starring Roisin Gallagher for Comedy (Screen)
- Sugartown Films/RTÉ’s Seisiún for Live Music Programme (Screen).
Celtic Media Festival’s events continue today with Broadcaster Kaye Adams interviewing Kevin Bakhurst, the Director-General of RTÉ, as he comes to the close of a challenging first year at the helm of Ireland's national broadcaster. Bakhurst has previously held a range of senior editorial positions at the BBC, including Controller, BBC News Channel and Deputy Head, BBC Newsroom from 2005.
Irish production company Midas Productions will compete in the second session of the International Pitching Forum later today, The Forum sees eight TV programme ideas shortlisted to participate, with television creatives making their pitches to the judging panel and a live festival audience.
The creatives are competing for a potential development deal from one or more of the television broadcasters represented on the judging panel, and a cash prize of £6,000 for the overall winning pitch.
The 45th Celtic Media Festival, taking place in Cardiff's city centre at the Marriott Hotel, will come to a conclusion today, June 6th.
