Irish Industry Trust for IP Awareness publishes Charter for the Promotion of Legal Film & TV
29 May 2024 : News Desk
Irish Industry Trust
The Irish Industry Trust for IP Awareness, the representative body for copyright awareness and the legal consumption of film, television, and other ‘content’ in Ireland, has launched a guide to encourage consumers towards legal routes for accessing ‘content’ online.

Building on the recent successes of the Irish film and TV industries, with its wealth of economic opportunities and increasing cultural relevance, the Irish Industry Trust for IP Awareness’ Best Practice Guide and National Charter recognises that in 2024, people in Ireland are watching more hours of film and television than ever before, with a clear shift towards streamed internet-based and mobile watching.

Audiences now have unprecedented options for accessing content, and The Trust aims to promote the Charter to direct consumers towards accessing ‘content’ through legal routes.

Additionally, Trust members are available to provide assistance and clarification to journalists regarding questions about release dates and other related topics. The Trust members represent Sky, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony Pictures, Disney, and Universal Pictures.

The Irish Industry Trust has collaborated with partners in the distribution and communications industries to develop a National Charter for the Promotion of Legal Film & TV.

The purpose of this charter is to give a clear guideline where there is any confusion around the sourcing and reporting of consumer information related to films, television shows and broadcasts in Ireland, ensuring that reporting about ways to watch and find content respects the value of IP, and always directs audiences to legal routes.

The National Charter for the Promotion of Legal Film & TV can be consulted on the Irish Industry Trust for IP Awareness website.
