London-based production company 1185 Films have unveiled a new slate of projects, including a new horror film from director Paul Duane.
Director Paul Duane (All You Need is Death) has set his next feature project for 1185 Films, a London-based film and TV production company. 1185, founded by Nick Franco, recently unveiled a slate of film and TV projects that includes Ziggy, a comedy from Father Ted cinematographer Eugene O’Connor.
The Empty Cell is a horror film set in a prison in near-future Ireland. An unexpected occupant, a transgender woman, is sent to the prison and when she dies in solitary confinement others start to succumb to a curse.
Duane’s previous narrative feature, All You Need is Death, had its world premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles, followed by an Irish premiere at Cork International Film Festival. Duane funded the project independently, and XYZ Films acquired the project. All You Need is Death had a limited theatrical release earlier this year. We sat down with director Paul Duane ahead of the Irish premiere last year to discuss the eclectic sources that inspired the film, and his independent approach to getting the film made.
“Paul Duane and I have been working together for 20 years and his career has continued on an upward trajectory with the current release of All You Need Is Death,” said Franco. “I’m incredibly excited to build on this and welcome such an impressive group of new directors to the fold. Our new found relationship with XYZ Films and Stephen James Thompson overseeing our slate means our proposition is incredibly valuable.”
