Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) has announced new appointments to the Board of Directors: Hylda Queally (Motion Picture Talent Agent at CAA); Stan Nangle (Director of Climate Innovation Ltd) and Mark Byrne (Group Head of Business Affairs at Element Pictures).
Executive Festival Director, Gráinne Humphreys, said, "Over 23 years, DIFF has evolved into a multi-faceted organisation. Our annual festival is amplified by film seasons, training courses, outreach and public conversations with filmmakers. Our board of directors have led with purpose and vision and we are delighted to welcome three illustrious industry professionals to our board and we look forward to learning from them and inspiring them in return.”
Speaking about her appointment, award winning agent Hylda Queally, who's clients include Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster, Jessie Buckley, Jessica Chastain and Lupita Nyong’o said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of the Dublin International Film Festival. As an Irish woman residing in the US for the last 35 years, I have proudly witnessed the ever-growing number of Irish talent and creatives on the world stage, many of whom have been spotlighted by the platform DIFF provides. I look forward to playing a part in the Festival’s ongoing support of both emerging and established artists.”
Stan Nangle, who was Sustainability Advisor for The Tourist and The Young Offenders said: “The Dublin International Film Festival was established to enable Dublin's cinema-going audiences to experience the best in Irish and international cinema and for more than 20 years it has been delivering on this promise in spades. I am honoured to be joining the Board, which contains so many luminaries from across the industry, and I hope to advocate for the inclusion of a perspective on the environment and climate action as a core value of the festival going forward.”
Mark Byrne, Head of Business Affairs for Element Pictures, said: “I have great memories of attending DIFF over the years. Particular highlights include the ‘surprise’ films and a very controversial Q&A with Oliver Stone before a screening of JFK in Coolock! I am delighted to join the board and work with Gráinne and Trish [Long] and the team to help maintain the success of the festival and provide inspiration for new generations of film fans.”
Other current Board members include Trish Long (Chair), Elaine Gill (Deputy Chair), Lenny Abrahamson, Neasa Hardiman, Ruth Hunter, Laurence Mackin, Ronan Murphy, Neal Davies, Sian Redmond.
Gráinne Humphreys, Executive Festival Director, has also announced the dates for the next edition of the festival, which will run 20th Feb to 2nd March.
