Screen Ireland has announced a new fund to support Irish distribution companies in recognition of the exceptionally difficult period being experienced by the sector, with challenges including cinema closures, content delays and the current battle for exhibition space in reduced-capacity theatres.
A strong and successful release in Ireland is an imperative springboard to wider success for filmmakers as they continue their journey from Irish theatrical to international exhibition and digital exploitation world-wide. Screen Ireland has stated that Irish distribution companies form a vital part of the life of Irish independent film and the fund has been established to support the essential work carried out by this sector in facilitating the link between the films, the exhibitors and the Irish audiences.
Screen Ireland now invites applications for Structural Marketing and Distribution Support for established Irish distribution companies, for a loan of up to €200,000 with match funding.
The aim of the fund will be to underpin the marketing and audience development function of distribution companies. This could include audience research, audience development, expanding press and public relations, strategic alliances (domestic or international), expanding marketing assets and expanding social media reach. This funding is about ambition, growth, and repositioning within the marketplace.
The loan may also be used to encourage distribution companies to seek out experts in the field of marketing and communications of films, particularly those using new and innovative ways to effectively reach audiences who might not respond to traditional campaigns.
The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday, 29th October 2021 at 17.00.
