PJ Harvey in A Dog Called Money releases in Irish cinemas on November 22nd
23 Oct 2019 : News Desk
PJ Harvey in A Dog Called Money
Break Out Pictures has announced that they will release Seamus Murphy’s new feature documentary PJ Harvey in A Dog Called Money in Irish cinemas on November 22nd.

PJ Harvey in A Dog Called Money is a uniquely intimate journey through the inspiration, writing and recording of a PJ Harvey record. Writer and musician Harvey and award-winning Irish photographer Seamus Murphy, hatched a collaboration. Seeking first-hand experience of the countries she wanted to write about, Harvey accompanied Murphy on some of his worldwide reporting trips, joining him in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Washington DC. Harvey collected words, Murphy collected images.

By capturing the immediacy of their encounters with the people and places they visited, Murphy shows the humanity at the heart of the work, tracing the sources of the songs, their special metamorphosis into recorded music, and, ultimately, cinema.

Speaking on the upcoming release Director Murphy said:

Working with Polly on this collaboration was creative and easy, there was no destructive clash of egos. It came naturally as both of us are independent and a bit maverick, so were able to just get on with things. She had an album to write and record, I went about my journalistic work and made a film from diverse sources- my work, out work together and 5 weeks shooting inside Somerset House where the album was realised.

“We travelled together, shared thoughts and ideas, friends do that. Its a 90-minute film of the long-term project we created together that spawned a book, an album and now a film. I introduced her to a world I know and she allowed me to see hers. It’s a film ultimately about inspiration; about our collaboration, and the creative process. I  am genuinely delighted its coming to the big screen in Ireland.”

PJ Harvey in A Dog Called Money releases in Irish cinemas on November 22nd.
