#FilmFleadh31: Will Forte Actors Masterclass

Actor Will Forte
Will Forte has been announced as the subject of this year’s Actors Masterclass The 31st Galway Film Fleadh, supported by Screen Skills Ireland.

Will Forte has established himself as one of the most versatile actors in film and television. For his work on 'The Last Man on Earth', he was nominated for a 2016 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and in 2015 he was nominated for both Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the comedy seires. He was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award in the category of Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 2015 and 2016 and received two 2016 WGA nominations.

Forte has just completed 'Extra Ordinary', the debut feature from writer/directors Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman starring Forte, Maeve Higgins, Barry Ward, and Claudia O’Doherty. 'Extra Ordinary', will screen on Saturday 13th July @ 8 pm at Town Hall Theatre as part of this year’s Galway Film Fleadh programme.

Forte recently starred in the David Wain-directed feature film 'A Futile and Stupid Gesture'. Forte is also known for his starring role in the feature film adaptation of 'MacGruber', co-writing the script alongside Jorma Taccone and John Solomon. Other film credits include the recent comedy 'Keanu'; Peter Bogdanovich’s 'She’s Funny That Way', opposite Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson; 'Life of Crime' opposite Jennifer Aniston, John Hawkes, Tim Robbins and Isla Fisher; 'Run and Jump' which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and won the Best Irish Feature Award at the Galway Film Festival; the Adam Sandler Netflix comedy 'The Ridiculous 6', as well as 'That’s My Boy' opposite Sandler and Andy Samberg; and 'The Watch' opposite Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, and Vince Vaughn. Additionally, he wrote and starred in the feature 'The Brothers Solomon' opposite Will Arnett and Kristen Wiig. Forte also lent his voice to the hit animated films 'The LEGO Movie', 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' and its sequel, 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2'.

The masterclass will be moderated by Maureen Hughes - Maureen trained as an artistic assistant under Garry Hynes at Druid Theatre Company in the ’80s and went on in 1992 to work in the Abbey Theatre for two-and-a-half years as Head of Casting. She moved into Film & TV working with Susie Figgis on casting 'The Butcher Boy' and subsequently went out on her own to cast several major screen productions, including the Oscar®-winning films 'Six Shooter' and 'Once', and recent Award Winning RTE productions 'Love/Hate', 'Charlie', 'Clean Break', and 'Rebellion'.

The masterclass costs €30 and will take place on Saturday 13th July from 10 am – 12.30 pm in the Galmont Hotel, Galway.
