Tristan Heanue's 'Ciúnas' Wins The Físín Pitching Prize At Dingle International Film Festival

The Dingle International Film Festival wrapped up last night with the winner of this year’s annual Físín pitching competition being announced.

Tristan Heanue's script Ciúnas (Silence) was this year’s selected project and will receive a cash prize along with equipment rental from Vast Valley Ltd. Most recently featuring in John Connor’s box-office hit, ‘Cardboard Gangsters’, Heanue’s story revolves around a family trying to come to terms with an attempted suicide and the stigma surrounding it.

The project will be produced by IFTA winner Éamonn Ó Cualáin who pitched the project along with Heanue.

Speaking about the achievement, Writer Tristan Heanue told IFTN:

"I am really delighted to win this award. It was a long process from working on our original ideas in November with the wonderful Gerard Stembridge and I can't wait to get planning the production. I'm also really looking forward to making a film in the Irish language in my native Connemara"

The project will go into production this summer in Connemara and is scheduled to premiere at the 2019 Dingle International Film Festival.

The Físín competition is an annual competition that has taken place at the Dingle International Film Festival since 2011. The competition is targeted at and encourages filmmaking in the Irish language.
