The traditional sailing boat known as the Galway Hooker, was at one time an essential part of community life in Connemara and is part of Gaelic social history. Original black and white archival film features some of the old boats and expert boatman John Deairbe Ó Fláthairtaigh leads us around the coast meeting with some of the skippers of these ancient craft. John demonstrates the construction and rigging of a Galway Hooker and tells a fascinating story of their past and present.
