This three-day or eight-evenings course teaches students to perform basic editing functions while becoming familiar with the user interface for Apple’s popular editing software Final Cut Pro. Start with basic video editing techniques and work all the way through Final Cut Pro’s powerful advanced features. Students work with dramatic real-world media to learn the practical techniques used daily in editing projects.

This class is designed for anyone looking to edit professional-quality video with Final Cut Pro X and who prefers hands-on and interactive instruction to best explore its functionality. These certified courses also offer students the chance to become Apple Certified in FCPX.

Prerequisites

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending:

  • Knowledge of OS X and basic computer navigation
  • Basic knowledge of editing terminology is highly recommended

Apple Pro Certification Level One Exam included.

Jimmy McGovern is an Emmy- winning and multiple BAFTA wining writer. He is one of the most important TV and film screenwriters to have emerged from the UK over the past 20 years.having created shows such as CRACKER, HILLSBOROUGH, THE ACCUSED, THE LAKES and THE STREETS. Hebegan his career writing on the soap BROOKSIDE. Prolific as ever, he is currently working on BANISHED, a TV drama set in 18th century Australia as well as COMMON, a TV film set in North West England, both for BBC.

6th June 2014 The VFX course at The Animation Workshop

The 3 month VFX course is designed to equip highly creative and driven European computer graphics professionals with the knowledge and skills to create photorealistic computer graphics and integrate them seamlessly with their own filmed live action footage. This will range from set extensions through CG-characters or vehicles to body part replacements.

Participants will work within the industry standards for software and camera equipment. All teachers will be recognized visiting industry experts.

Each week of the training activity will consist of artistic and technical lectures, film and game analysis, numerous and intense assignments, group critiques, evaluations, one on one critiques, tutoring and production simulation.

At the end of the course, participants will have the opportunity to develop their show reels under the supervision of their guest teacher, and they will then be ready to start to work immediately as VFX generalists for film or animation studios.
