Masterclass Outline
Award winning Iranian Cinematographer Mahmoud Kalari has brought the vision of many great Iranian directors to life, such as Palme d’Or winner Abbas Kiarostami, Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi and Jafar Panahi. The masterclass will include the following:

  • The art, craft and process of Master Cinematographer Mahmoud Kalari
  • Scene by scene breakdown of Academy award winning films A SEPERATION (Jodái -e Náder az Simin) and CAT & FISH (Mahi Va Gorbeh)
  • Questions and Answers chaired by Irish Director and Cinematographer Michael Lavelle.

The masterclass is aimed at Directors, Producers, Cinematographers, Camera department and film students.

This seminar, delivered in association with Screen Producers Ireland, is aimed at experienced television producers/production managers for factual/documentary/lifestyle/entertainment programming. The seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to explore what producers need to know from both the cost and management perspective about file-based workflows and data management issues across origination, delivery, storage and archiving.

Do you want to know what it takes to produce a Documentary film? With experienced Documentary Producer and Director Vanessa Gildea at the helm, this course is designed for anyone setting out to make their first Doc film.

Vanessa studied film as part of a Liberal Arts Degree at the University of Limerick. Subsequently she worked in film training for nine years, mostly for Filmbase, Dublin where she still tutors on the documentary foundation course, she has also lectured on the film courses in Griffith College Dublin, Colaiste Dhulaigh and the University of Limerick. She has experience in producing and directing, and directed short documentaries for Amnesty International Ireland and award winning Dublin based production company Venom Films. Vanessa has also written for film publications Film West and Film Ireland magazines. She has received three IFTA nominations including ‘The White Dress’ the feature length music documentary shot in Mali, West Africa called ‘Dambé – The Mali Project’ which was nominated for an IFTA 2009 in the Best Feature Documentary category and ‘John Ford – Dreaming the Quiet Man’ in 2013.

4 One-day Seminars in Screenwriting. These one-day seminars focus on particular areas of Screenwriting – Introduction, to Character, Visual Storytelling and Writing Dialogue. Four seminars on four Saturdays, adding up to an overall introduction to Screenwriting and the whole field of film, TV and digital storytelling. The four Saturdays will add up to a relaxed guided tour of the basic tricks and tools of writing for film. Observations and questions from the participants are very much encouraged. The sessions can be purchased singly, or as a whole for a discount. Please see prices in separate tab.

The Strategic Planning workshop will be available in Dublin or Berlin so participanting companies can choose the most convenient location
  • Module 3 – 26th – 30th November 2014 location TBC
  • One day of meetings on the implementation of your strategic plan and leaderships coaching in October 2014(tbc with each company)

Target Participants
CEOs, company owners and/or CFOs of companies in film, television, animation, documentary, digital media or facilities and services, which are growing and have potential to become leaders in their industries.

How much does it cost?
Screen Leaders EU costs €5,000 per participating company, to include two representatives. Included in the price are accommodation and all meals. Travel costs are excluded. Scholarships are available for the 12 new EU member states (Romania, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lituania, Slovakia, Croatia, Cyprus and Malta)
