Editor Jamie Fitzpatrick is nominated for Best Editing at the Wildscreen Panda Awards, which is considered the “Oscars” of the natural history filmmaking world.

Wild Cuba is atwo hour special on the wildlife and wild places of Cuba showcasing the natural magic of one of the Earth’s most intriguing countries and revealing how sympathetic government polices allied to 50 years of blockades and isolation have preserved a time capsule of thriving wildlife and magnificent landscapes on the Caribbean’s largest island.

Wild Cuba is directed by John Murray, who produced the special alongside Ciara Baker and Cepa Giblin. Jamie Fitzpatrick edited the series, with Domenico Pontillo as principal photographer.

The show was produced for RTÉ with the support of investment incentives for the Irish film industry provided by the Government of Ireland and from the Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA of the European Union.International partners on the project were ORF, BBC, France Télévisions, Thirteen Productions Llc., PBS, and ORF Enterprises.

We’re delighted to be recognised by these competitions which are the ‘Oscars’ of the natural history filmmaking world and to be bringing Irish productions to such a large international audience,” said producer/director John Murray when speaking to IFTN about the nominations. “We would like to particularly mention the support of RTÉ and the importance of the Section 481 investment incentives from the Irish Government which are critical for ambitious projects such as Wild Cuba. These have been a key support to  our industry over the last number of years as we try and compete with the world’s top producers.”

Crossing the Line has just started production on a major new Irish wildlife series - Ireland’s Wild Islands produced for RTÉ, Love Nature, and ARTE France.
