OC Productions and Big Handsome Media Secure International Distribution Rights for 'Mad Hannans'
06 Dec 2018 : News Desk
The documentary feature film won ‘Best Documentary Film’ at the Manchester International Film Festival in March.

After a successful festival circuit, which saw the film receiving critical acclaim and a number of awards, Big Handsome Media and OC Productions have teamed up to secure the international distribution rights to ‘Mad Hannans’.

The award winning film is now set to be distributed to television and online broadcasters all over Europe and will be showcased through the collaboration of Big Handsome Media and OC Productions at the European content Markets.

Speaking about the acquisition, OC Productions Damian O’Callaghan told IFTN:

“OC Productions in collaboration with Big Handsome Media are very proud to acquire the distribution rights for this Amazing artistic film. To be working on a project starring Sean Penn is surreal but it does prove that persistence and hard work does eventually reward those who follow their dream.”

From Director and Grammy nominated producer Martin Shore, the documentary follows the poignant story of brothers, musicians and band-mates Jerry and Sean Hannan, chronicling their rise, fall, and ultimate reconciliation. The film features insights from Hollywood Actor Sean Penn, Pearl Jam Lead singer Eddie Vedder and Talking heads guitarist Jerry Harrison, as well as the Hannan brothers themselves and those who knew them best.

After initial success, the brothers endured a ten year hiatus after a complete breakdown of their relationship, eventually making amends for the sake of the music and family before their existence changes irrevocably. A true story of life's joys, trials, devastating losses and the unbreakable bonds that hold them all together.

A number of distribution deals are expected in 2019.
