'S.P.L.I.T' Opens October 12th

Robbie Walsh's Irish Feature Film 'S.P.L.I.T' Goes on Limited Release - October 12th.

The dark comedy/drama displays gangland Dublin in a mockumentary style, following two brothers on their daily routine as hitmen.

'S.P.L.I.T' sees a film crew following both men throughout two days of their lives, as they go through a list of targets. Dealing with each other's flaws, they endeavour to discuss modern social issues in both a hilarious and controversial fashion.

As we follow these two hitmen, we learn how they do their 'job', we get to know their idiosyncrasies, hypocrisies, and self-delusions. One has anxiety and alcohol issues and just wants to get out of the business. While the other, is a sociopath who truly loves his job, aiming to be more inventive and creative with each hit.

Speaking about how the project came about and the team effort that was involved, Director Robbie Walsh told IFTN:

'S.P.L.I.T.' came about when I was at a complete loose end with acting and film making in general, I'd no challenging auditions other than parts like 2nd guy on left and the odd commercial. My first directorial feature film;'Eden' had gone nowhere except some smaller festivals, I was almost flat broke and felt a little lost and disillusioned with the industry. I was frustrated and wanted to do something gritty, tough, different, something that got in people's faces. A two fingered salute to the extreme PC culture that is creeping into film/acting and trying to kill the artists' reliance on instinct."

"The idea of two Dublin inner city, no nonsense hitmen on camera discussing modern social issues whilst killing people for money just kept growing on me. I began to write, I reached out and asked for help from the best people I knew: Actors, Non-Actors, Crew, Martial Artists, MMA fighters, Musicians, Models. Family & Friends appeared as extras. Even my brothers paid for sandwiches when we filmed in my parents' house (they have an exec prod credit).  We got what money we could (close to nothing), and what equipment we could get together and with Donnecha Coffey on Cam and Kolm Mooney on sound we shot as much as we could in the time we had (3 days). After an extensive edit (thanks TJ) and some music donated by Keywest, the film was ready to go."

The film was written and directed by Walsh and is produced by Nicci St. George Smith, David Ralph, David Alexander Roach, Philip McRory and Nathan & Conor Walsh. Further Credits include Damien Dempsey, David Alexander, Cathal Pendred, Chris Fields, Slaine Kelly, Jenny Dixon, Patrick Murphy, Philip McRory, Rob Quigley, Claire Malone, Johnny Elliott and Roxanne May.

'S.P.L.I.T' releases on October 12th.
