Motive Films Announce Multiple Distribution Deals For 'Between Land & Sea'

Following strong interest at the 2017 Cannes Film Market, ‘Between Land and Sea’ has secured multiple distribution deals that will see the film released internationally across 2018.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Ross Whitaker (‘When Ali Came to Ireland’, ‘Saviours’, ‘Unbreakable: The Mark Pollock Story’) and produced by Motive Films (‘Conor McGregor – Notorious’, ‘I Am Immigrant’). ‘Between Land and Sea’ embeds itself in the Big Wave surf community of Lahinch to present a thoroughly engaging and visually stunning portrait of a town at the mercy of the Atlantic Ocean and those who choose to dedicate their lives to surfing, taking the audience beyond the bluster of the typical adrenaline fuelled film to create a very real portrait of those who choose the surf lifestyle.

Represented globally by sales agency Cercamon, the film will be released in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, China, and South Korea in 2018.

Hi Gloss Entertainment have secured the Australian and New Zealand rights to the film with a short theatrical released planned across Feb & March before being released on home entertainment and VOD platforms.

Specialist US based distributor Film Movement have optioned the North American rights and are planning a summer release. The company who specialize in sourcing independent films from around the world are planning a limited theatrical / festival run this summer before releasing on all digital platforms and home video.

Further deals have been agreed in Asia that will bring this unique Irish film to large markets and new audiences. 

Between Land and Sea will also screen at this months prestigious DocPoint festival in Finland at the beginning of February.

The film is produced by Motive Films with the support of the BAI Sound and Vision Fund and Irish Government film incentives. The film was directed by Ross Whitaker, executive produced by Anne McLoughlin and Jamie D’Alton, edited by Andrew Hearne and scored by Michael Fleming. Kevin Smith and Ross Whitaker were the DOP’s on the film. Post-production took place at Outer Limits, with Eugene McCrystal colourist and Ciara Walsh post production supervisor. The film was mixed by Killian Fitzgerald at Avatar Post Production.
