The hit Irish title from Peter Foott has gone from strength-to-strength this year, exceeding €1M at the Irish box office, multiple distribution deals and an impressive collection of awards.
Adding to this is its recent success at the largest comedy festival in the United States, where it was honoured in the categories of Best Feature Direction, Best Feature Screenplay and Best Feature Film.
The LA Comedy Fest, which ran from November 10th-20th saw an impressive schedule of film and live performance in tandem with a script writing competition.
Other recent awards for the Irish comedy include the Súil Eile Award at Irish Film London, at which Alex Murphy also received The Ros Hubbard Award for Acting.
Last October Carnaby International Sales & Distribution acquired the international rights in non-English speaking territories, with its Senior Manager, Sales and Acquisitions Lorianne Hall commending its Irish humour as the attraction to the project.
Lorianne Hall, Senior Manager, Sales and Acquisitions:
“Being a fan of Irish film, and Irish humour in particular, I was automatically drawn to the film. I was familiar with Peter’s show Republic of Telly and knew that the film would be funny but when I saw it, it wasn’t just funny, it was brilliant. I knew it was going to be a hit.
The film continues to screen to Irish cinemas this week, having been originally released on Friday, September 16th.
