Search for New Board Members for Northern Ireland Screen
23 Mar 2018 :
The Department for the Economy (DfE) in NI has launched a public appointments competition to recruit nine new Board Members to the Board of Northern Ireland Screen.

Northern Ireland Screen is the lead agency in Northern Ireland for the film, television and gaming sectors with a vision to become the strongest screen industry outside London in the UK and Ireland.

The Department wishes to appeal to people of all ages from a wide range of backgrounds and experience and would particularly welcome applications from people with a disability, those from ethnic minorities and young people under 30, as they are currently under-represented on the Board. The Department is currently operating the Guaranteed Interview Scheme in this competition for applicants with a disability.

This competition will be of particular interest to people who wish to develop their skills as part of a Board and are willing to learn. Previous experience of serving on a Board is not necessary as new appointees will undergo an induction programme, as well as being offered peer support.

Board Members are not remunerated and are expected to attend Board and Committee meetings totalling approximately 16 days per year. All reasonable travel and subsistence costs, and any reasonable dependent/carer expenses, including childcare, incurred while undertaking board duties will also be reimbursed where applicable.

No specific academic qualifications are required for the posts. Appointments will be made on merit. Applicants are asked to demonstrate in writing one ‘specialist skill’ from any of the following options: high end television and film production; television, independent film or animation production; game development; Irish language, culture and heritage; Ulster-Scots language, culture and heritage; digital transformation of education; financial management; and film or screen culture. Applicants, if short listed for interview, will also be asked to demonstrate skills in constructive and supportive challenge and building and maintaining working relationships, partnerships or networks.

The Board of Northern Ireland Screen shall consist of a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson and 12 members.  Current membership stands at 10 (Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and eight members).
