Irish director Stephen Fingleton’s latest feature film Nightride has been selected for the Industry Selects strand at the Toronto International film festival.
This year’s Industry Selects features a curated selection of 22 global films beyond the Official Selection strand of the festival, which are available for sale.
“These titles, hand-selected by TIFF’s Festival Programming team presented on our TIFF Digital Cinema Pro platform, are sure to garner interest from buyers,” said Diana Sanchez, member of the selection panel. “They reflect the Festival’s global spirit and showcase a host of new voices and international talent.”
Nightride is a real time, one shot thriller about a dealer trying to pull off one last job in order to go straight. It received development support from Northern Ireland Screen and was shot entirely in Belfast during lockdown.
The cast includes Moe Dunford, Joana Ribeiro, Gerard Jordan, Ciaran Flynn, John Travers and Stephen Rea.
“I’ve worked with Ben Conway before on a short, he’s a superb writer , so I was very excited to work with him on his first feature,” actor Moe Dunford told IFTN. “I’ve wanted to work with Stephen for some time, and he brought his unique vision to this. Between them , and an incredible hardworking crew, I think we’ve done something special that I’m excited for audiences to see .”
Nightride was directed by Stephen Fingleton, written by Ben Conway and produced by Paul Kennedy & Jon Silk. It features an original score by Phil Kieran. The film was produced by Village Films Belfast, Silk Mass, and Logical Pictures and is being sold internationally by Pulsar Content.
