Filmbase and the Stunt Actors Guild Ireland (SAG) have joined forces to host a Stunt Action Masterclass on Saturday, March 26th. The session, hosted by John Sheridan, Joe Condren and Paul Valentine will take the format of Lecture and video presentation, live demonstrations and an audience Q&A session.
A release from the groups says that the event will be suitable for Directors, Actors, Producers, Assistant Directors and Camera Crew along with film school students, drama and theatre groups and those seeking a basic insight into the stunt industry. Sheridan, Condren and Valentine have worked across numerous Irish projects including ‘King Arthur’, 'Intermission', ‘The Escapist’, ‘Your Highness’, ‘Bloody Sunday’ and ‘The Boxer’.
The topics that will be covered on the day include Costing and timing of stunt scenes; Staging of stunts for Directors; Stunt action staging and blocking: An insight for DoP's and Camera Operators; Physical skills and agility Actors require for stunt work; Choreographing fight displays, weapons techniques and high falls and Health and Safety issues.
Ireland’s Stunt Actors Guild is a networking base for some of Ireland's most highly trained Stunt Performers, Co-ordinators, Fight Choreographers and 2nd Unit Directors. The members have worked on hundreds of projects including ‘Intermission’, ‘Five Minutes of Heaven’, ‘Reign of Fire’ and ‘The Escapist’. SAG will donate proceeds from the event to The Advance National.
The workshop and information session will take place in Filmbase in Temple Bar on Saturday, 26th of March at a cost of 80. It will run from 9:30am to 4:00pm.
