Application deadline for TV and Media Production Programme extended

The Higher Diploma in Arts in Television and Media Production from Waterford Institute of Technology and Nemeton TV is designed to facilitate people who are working and will be delivered via block release: two blocks of three days each month, with tutors available for feedback in between these blocks.

Anybody interested in making their mark in the television or media world, or adding to their digital content skills can apply for a postgraduate programme in Waterford right up to the end of September.

Masterclasses from industry

Every year, the course attracts participants from all over Ireland who are keen to avail of practical workshops, which are led by film, television, and radio professionals with extensive experience.

“There is good news for anyone interested in directing and editing short drama, documentary film or digital marketing content,” says course leader  Dr Moira Sweeney. 

“The closing date for the Higher Diploma in Arts in Television and Media Production from Waterford Institute of Technology and Nemeton TV has been extended to the end of September 2021. The course will start again in October 2021 with an exciting and innovative blend of practical workshops and online classes, uniquely tailored to the needs of students who wish to develop their skills while also working.” 

The award-winning postgraduate programme prepares graduates for working in the television and media industries and is delivered through a blend of practical workshops and online classes delivered through block-release.

Successful graduates

The class of 2021 have had great success says Dr Sweeney: “Graduates from this year are already working in the industry in key editing, production and directing roles.”

“It has been a record year for the Higher Diploma at the National Student Media Awards 2021 with twelve nominations and three awards across four categories for the students’ imaginative and compelling films,” she continues.

The Údáras na Gaeltachta supported course is highly regarded in the media sector and has an excellent employment record. Graduates go on to work in TG4, RTÉ, the BBC and in top companies such as Tyrone Productions, Nemeton TV, Independent Pictures and Magamedia. 

“The industry-focused nature of the postgraduate course attracts participants from all over Ireland who are keen to avail of practical workshops which are led by film, television and radio professionals with extensive experience. Central to the course are masterclasses presented by award-winning filmmakers,” Dr Sweeney says.
