Myriad Pictures has secured a number of sales deals for Rachel Carey’s hilarious Irish comedy Deadly Cuts, which include a North American release after Level 33 Entertainment licensed the film.

The company is targeting a March 17th release date for the film in North America, to coincide with the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

“It’s always exciting to discover new filmmaking talent and Rachel Carey is another great example of a writer-director to watch in the coming years,” said Andreas Olavarria Level 33 Entertainment President and CEO. “We’re grateful to Kirk and the team at Myriad for entrusting us with this bold and hilarious film, and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with audiences across North America.”

Myriad Pictures President and CEO Kirk D’Amico added: “We are very pleased to be working with Andreas Olavarria and his team at Level 33 again. We think that their plans to focus initially on Irish-American audiences with this delightful female comedy is the right strategy. We hope that the film will also connect with a wider audience who will appreciate and root for the stylish women in this Dublin hair salon.”

Additional distribution deals have been secured across territories such as Australia/New Zealand (Rialto Distribution), South Africa (Mnet), and Spain (Media Solution Partners).

Myriad acquired the vigilante hairdresser comedy ahead of the film featuring at Cannes virtual pre-screenings back in May 2021. The Los Angeles-based company picked up international rights for the film excluding Ireland and the UK.

"All the producers (Auveen Lush, Ciara Appelbe and Liz Gill) are delighted that the people in the US, South Africa, Spain and Australia/New Zealand are going to see this gem of a film," producer Auveen Lush told IFTN. "Thanks to Myriad Pictures for their continued support."

The comedy, which is the feature debut from writer/director Rachel Carey, follows the stylists of a Dublin hair salon who become accidental vigilantes as they take on a local gang threatening their community. Read our interview with writer/director Rachel Carey discussing Deadly Cuts.

Deadly Cuts, which stars Angeline Ball (The Commitments, Shameless), Ericka Roe (Herself, Dublin Murders), Lauren Larkin (Love/Hate), Shauna Higgins (Dating Amber, Red Rock), and Victoria Smurfit (Once Upon A Time, Marcella),  debuted at the Dublin International Film Festival in March and saw Carey pick up a Discovery Award.

“I made this film because I’d felt for a long time that a Dublin comedy was well overdue - especially one that featured the style, wit, and occasional murderous urges of the Dublin young one - and I can’t wait for audiences to watch it fly,” Carey previously told IFTN.

Deadly Cuts was produced by Auveen Lush, Ciara Appelbe and Liz Gill for O’Sullivan Productions with funding from Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) and Virgin Media.
