Netflix and Shondaland have revealed new additions to the cast of the hit period series for season 2, including Irish actor Calam Lynch.

Since his debut in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-nominated Dunkirk, Lynch starred opposite Ruth Wilson in Mrs Wilson and appeared as John Paul O’Reilly in Lisa McGee’s hit channel 4 series Derry Girls. The young Irish actor, who appeared most recently in the new Black Beautyfor Disney+, will play Theo Sharpe in Bridgerton S02, a hardworking printer's assistant described as “not just a working-class man, he's also an intellectual who fights for the rights for all”.

Seaons 2 will see Lynch link up with Derry Girls co-star Nicola Coughlan, who was nominated for season 1 of the series at the 2021 SAG awards along with the rest of the cast for Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Other additions to the cast for season 2 include Charithra Chandran (Alex Rider), Shelly Conn (Liar) and Rupert Young (Dear Evan Handsen). Chris Van Dussen acts as creator and showrunner and Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers are executive producers.

Bridgerton will return to production this Spring.
