Wagtale Productions are currently in production with a new six part stand up comedy series, ‘Stand and Deliver’. The 6 x 26 minute series, being made for RTE2 is presented by ‘Après Match’ comedian Barry Murphy and will feature 17 other comics performing stand up in Galway’s Roisin Dubh venue.
The series is directed by Maurice Linnane (A Kiss for Jed Wood) and is produced by Deborah Pearce and Gráinne O’Carroll (Yu Ming is Ainm Dom). The director of photography, Joe Edwards (Luke Kelly: The Performer) has already captured ten of the comedians including Reginald D Hunter, Glenn Wool and Jason Byrne, doing their sets. The remaining acts will be filmed live in the Roisin Dubh on October 6th and 7th.
The full line-up of comic talent is: Stewart Lee, Reginald D. Hunter, Andrew Maxwell, Milton Jones, Steve Hughes, Sarah Millican, Carl Barron, Josie Long, Glenn Wool, Jason Byrne, Colin Murphy, John Lynn, Gearoid Farrelly, Eleanor Tiernan, John Colleary, Karl Spain and Jarlath Regan.
Former IFTA nominee and host, Barry Murphy will, as mentioned above, present the series and has filmed some inserts for the series. Deborah describes the inserts for IFTN, saying: “They’re surreal. They do link to the live stand up acts but in ways that people will not have seen before. We’ve filmed them with Barry and some of the other comedians in and around Galway and the wilds of Connemara.” The TX date for the series is TBC but the delivery date is November 1st. Deborah expects that the shoot will wrap on October 8th.
The low budget series is funded by RTÉ.
