‘The 11th hour’ Returns to RTÉ
13 Oct 2009 :
A new series of ‘The 11th Hour’ will broadcast on Wednesday, October 14th. Directed by Dearbhla Walsh (Little Dorrit) and Mark Quinn (Editor, Luke Kelly: The Performer) and presented again by Dave Fanning (Gaybo’s Grumpy Men), the series will again seek to bring audiences new music along with interviews with the renowned artists in the lounges of Dublin's O2 Arena and specially recorded performances from some of the bands of the moment.

This week Dave presents the first programme in a two-part special on The Beatles which includes interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Sir George Martin, studio footage which shows the band recording their albums and promotional video clips.

The two first programmes of the series will take viewers through the recording of all The Beatles records, concentrating on the progression from album to album, marking the changes and the innovations of The Beatles.

The new series makes use of new outside broadcast and internet streaming company Streamcast, headed up by cameramen Ken O'Mahony (The Irish Township) and Paul Warde (Made in America), who provide full filming for the series using four HD cameras and full vision & sound mixing.

The picture post-production of the file-based XDCAM HD material is being completed at edit house High Wire using Avid MC and Avid DS HD grading and effects. Newly opened sound facility Gorilla Post headed up by sound engineer Barry Reid are providing sound mixing facilities for the show.

Series producer and presenter Dave Fanning is upbeat about this run of The 11th Hour “This series of The 11th Hour is probably our most exciting yet with extensive features on The Beatles, REM and Neil Young as well as our usual performances from, and chats with, local bands like Codes, Bipolar Empire, Delorentos, Funeral Suits and Tucan and guest interviewees like Gordon D'Arcy, Liam Cunningham and Simon Delaney”

The new series of ‘The 11th Hour’ will start on Wednesday, October 14th on RTÉ2 at 11.25pm.
