Domhnall Gleeson has been cast as the Winnie The Pooh creator in Simon Curtis’s upcoming period drama ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’.

The Irish actor will play A.A Milne alongside Margot Robbie who plays Milne’s wife Daphne. The Fox Searchlight film will be directed by Simon Curtis and written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughan. The behind the scenes tells the story of the life of AA Milne and the creation of the Winnie the Pooh stories inspired by his son Christopher Robin.

Gleeson and Robbie have previously starred together in Richard Curtis romantic time travel comedy ‘About Time’, which was a critical success and made over $80m worldwide.

Gleeson is currently filming ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ which wrapped late last month in Donegal, Kerry and Cork, where he reprises his role from ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ as the villainous General Hux. His film ‘Mena’ where he stars opposite US actor Tom Cruise, is also in post-production.

The actor has also recently been cast in the Netflix feature ‘A Futile And Stupid Gesture’ which tells the story of the men who founded the incredibly popular ‘National Lampoon’ series. He will also star alongside his brother Brian and Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem in an untitled project from 'Black Swan' and 'The Wrestler' director Darren Aronofsky. This comes after a banner 2015 which saw him star in four films that were nominated for 2016 Oscars (‘The Revenant’, ‘Brooklyn’, ‘Ex Machina’, ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’). He was recently nominated for two IFTA Awards also – for his supporting turn in ‘Brooklyn’ and for his lead performance in ‘Ex Machina’.
