First look at Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump in James Comey Miniseries

Showtime has revealed the first look at Brendan Gleeson as President Donald J. Trump ahead of the release of their upcoming miniseries The Comey Rule, which is set to release over two nights in late November.

The two-part, four-hour series, which is a TV adaptation of former FBI Director James Comey’s bestselling book A Higher Loyalty, will air on CBS following the outcome of the 2020 US Presidential Election.

Two-time Primetime Emmy winner Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom, The Squid and the Whale) takes on the role of Comey alongside Gleeson with Variety stating that the series takes “viewers on an insider’s journey down the corridors of power, where decision-makers struggle to apply old norms to a dramatic new paradigm in the face of Russia’s deep and unprecedented penetration into American politics, with the American nation’s rule of law hanging in the balance.”

The first instalment is said to examine the early days of the Russia investigation, the FBI’s infamous investigation into Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails and how they impacted to outcome of Election Night 2016. 

The second instalment  is said to be a “virtual day-by-day account of the tempestuous relationship between Comey and Trump and the intense and chaotic first months of the Trump presidency.”

Daniels and Gleeson are join by a cast that includes Michael Kelly (former FBI Director Andrew McCabe), Holly Hunter (former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates), Jennifer Ehle (Patrice Comey), Scoot McNairy (former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein), Jonathan Banks (former National Intelligence Director James Clapper), Oona Chaplin (former FBI lawyer Lisa Page), Amy Seimetz (former FBI lawyer Trisha Anderson), Steven Pasquale (former FBI agent Peter Strzok), Peter Coyote (Robert Mueller) and Kingsley Ben-Adir (President Barack Obama).

The series was produced by Secret Hideout, The Story Factory, and Home Run Productions in association with CBS TV Studios. Executive Producers include Heather Kadin, Shane Salerno, and Alex Kurtzman, while the series was adapted and directed by Billy Ray.
