24 Sep 2019 : News Desk
Virgin Media One will air a brand-new crime documentary, 'Inside Ireland’s Gangland: The Next Generation' tomorrow night at 10pm.

Presented by Crime Correspondent Sarah O’Connor, this Virgin Media News documentary examines how a massive Garda crackdown after the Regency Hotel murder effectively put the Kinahan crime cartel out of business, only to see a new ruthless breed of young criminals take their place.

Featuring exclusive footage that has never been seen before on Television from inside the Regency Hotel and interviews with senior gardai and clergy, one heartbroken woman tells the story of losing her son and brother in law to gangland violence.

The Irish crime documentary traces back as far as 2009, to a Tiger Kidnapping and the infamous Bank of Ireland, College Green robbery, progressing to the attack in the Regency in 2016, the resulting feud and the massive police response.

Inside Ireland’s Gangland: The Next Generationfollows the unprecedented Garda crackdown which largely led to the dismantling of the Kinahan organisation in Ireland, exploring the power vacuum left in its wake in Ireland’s gangland as A new generation of criminals attempt to stake a claim on Ireland's lucrative drug market.

The Virgin Media doc also deals with the Kinahan cartel’s drug trafficking operations from their base in Dubai, as the team travel to the UK to meet one of the cartels most senior members in jail.
